Sulli 'n Friends

Sulli ’n Friends Band Bio

Sulli ’n Friends is a laid back rootsy all star collective born out of the greater Charlotte and
Lake Norman music community. The band is a lineup of players who know how to create a vibe
the moment they plug in. Fronted by John Sullivan (vocals, guitar), a standout from Season 19
of The Voice, the group mixes original material, classic rock, island inspired grooves, extended
jams, and faith based worship tunes into a sound that feels warm, familiar, and completely their own.

John and Ryan Winters (vocals, piano) have been playing together for a decade, building the
musical chemistry that became the backbone of Sulli ’n Friends. Over time, the band evolved
into its current lineup. Chris Sheridan, known for his work with the Charlotte band Simplified,
joined on guitar in 2022, bringing a melodic and expressive style that fits perfectly in the jam
space. A staple of the Charlotte music scene, James Brock stepped in on drums and
percussion in 2023, delivering dynamic in the pocket grooves that anchor the band’s sound
with feel and intention. And in 2024, Daniel Gonzalez completed the rhythm section on bass,
adding depth, movement, and a steady pulse.

The story of the band is deeply connected to the Lake Norman community. Ten years ago,
John created the now legendary Dog Island Jam, a floating summer event that grew into one of
the lake’s most anticipated gatherings. What started as a party became a charity tradition,
raising money for underprivileged children and strengthening the band’s bond with the
community around them.

Musically, Sulli ’n Friends pulls from many places. Classic rock, beach flavored jams, soulful
piano driven tunes, improvisation, and worship moments all find a home in their setlists. Their
love for the jam world shines through in the spirit of their performances, with a strong nod to
the Grateful Dead where every night feels new and every moment breathes.

At its core, Sulli ’n Friends is about good energy, good songs, and good people making music
together. It is a band built on friendship, community, faith, and a shared love for the craft.
